Matte wears better whereas gloss scratches easily. Go with the glossy lettering though. Makes for a really cool contrast. Good luck with your novel

Both!
I really like a mixture of the two, where the lettering is in one and the rest is in the other. I saw something at the bookstore the other day (don't remember what it was), but the entire cover was matte black, and the letters and some beastie on the front were glossy. It looked great, even if the book didn't look like something I particularly wanted to read.

Do you advise you want to gloss over the end it has now to guard it or a sparkling paint pastime thoroughly? If the latter is the case why did you purchase the guitar yet when that's the first decision, certain you may yet i'd not attempt it myself.your self. it relies upon the position you're yet there's a guy in the Midlands referred to as John Diggins who custom makes guitars and basses yet I actual have a feeling he also does 'resprays'. ought to nicely be worth checking on Google for Jaydee guitars

A matt finish looks more classic, glossy for fun read - but it's only icing on the cake, it's the pages in between that matter - good luck with your novel.

I think that matte works better with lots of black, but gloss goes better with colour.

A dark novel can still be glossy. I like glossy because books slide in and out of the shelf without damaging the book.

Depends on the type of novel you're promoting. Matt for practical & serious writing while glossy finish for humour & light stuff.

For a paperback I would go gloss, that way it doubles as a coaster so people will never take it off the coffee table and their friends will ask about your book when they come over.

Matt gives a classy look. Pleasant to hold. Doesn't slip off your hand when you read it in bed.
Gloss is attractive. Goes well with lamination. Problem is, most of the time, it slips off the hand.

I 'm an avid reader, so handle many books and I have to go with matt. It gives the book a classier, more exclusive look. The cover actually feels better quality than the glossy cover (although this is probably my imagination). Yes...go on...go matt! Good luck.
