Nope, it doesn't reduce the life at all. I'll explain.

When you do a quick erase, the only part of the disc that's erased is the most inner rings where the table of contents is stored. When that is blanked out, Windows assumes the rest of the disc is blank as well, even if it's not.

Every part of a disc can be erased and written to about a 1000 times before it fails (that's the estimate anyway). So, it doesn't matter if you're talking about the whole disc or just the inner rings that store the table of contents. Both, of course, are needed for the disc to be usable. So even if you do a full erase, you're not increasing the number of times any section of the disc is being erased. I hope that makes sense.

A full erase is only needed if you have problems writing to the CD-RW disc or if you're concerned about security (making sure the files are gone). Otherwise, just stick with a quick erase. You won't likely ever use a CD-RW disc enough times to cause it to physically break down and fail.

Neither. Quick erase clears the directory stored on the disk. (actually its a map of the used blocks and sectors on the disk.) with filenames indexed on this 'bitmap.' This means the files are still there but you can't see them. If you only needed to make a change to the disk then the quick erase would work fine but if you want to make a new one, use erase.

If you use quick erase, it still has to erase the previous data before it can write so it's not really saving the life of the drive.

Erasing erases the files and the disk directory.

I believe that fully erasing it would decrease the life of your drive because the lens is used more in that circumstance. As far as your cd is concerned it wouldn't make much difference.

it relies upon on the applying which you employ. in case you're utilising Nero, then there is an erase disc application interior the Nero (forward application) itemizing interior the initiating menu. actual however, merely get a sort of USB flash drives instead in case you have been making plans on utilising cds to circulate records, and once you're utilising the cd-rw's for music, then burn a clean one on a ordinary CD-R and keep your self the headache (they fee decrease than 8 cents apiece now)!
