Good question! I do think that people for immigrate to this country should be able to speak the language or actively trying to learn the language. Look at France, if you try to immigrate there you have to speak french so why should it not be different here? There is a lot in the news at present about multiculturalism surely the process would be a lot easier if everyone can speak the NATIVE language.
As for the welsh language well its native in whales!

Well if you didn't give non-English speakers the right to vote, then why not exclude them from paying taxes as well. No taxation without representation. The US would lose a vast amount of tax dollars that way.
Maybe if were born in some poor country and had to immigrate and work hard to survive you might not find the time to learn the language either.
Where does the word America come from? How about any of the state names or names of towns? Are they in English?
"Let's chop down all the trees and name streets after them. Let's kill all the Indians and name cars after them."

Permit me to qualify my answer by my personal understandings. America’s founding documents were written in English and narrowly defined which “Citizens” could vote.
It was amended several times to include the balance of its “citizens”, specific on the point citizen. The distraction that German should be the national language was at the time an attempt to name a national language, but also take a poke at England. I understand that America provides ballots in several languages…How do they separate the illegal alien from the citizen? I hear their democrats screaming about vote fraud then supporting criminals and illegals to vote? That just sounds insane!
My greatest concern would be that the only information they have to make a decision on a candidate or issue comes ONLY from limited print or broadcast news, in “their language” therefore they only get one side…Or indoctrinated instructions as it were! And the person that needs help in identifying names or party affiliations on a ballot is NOT informed enough to vote in the first place…Do you think that is why America’s founders originally limited those that could vote?
Answer! I see no legal or moral reason that they should be allowed to vote!

This is a poor question, based around your own fears, when you should be directing your hatred at the government.
Did you read on the form the bit about the £1000 fine, for not filling it in? So smart guy... all the asians are just going to pay the fine, of course not..
We shouldnt have to vote, or register, if we do not want to vote.
I will not vote until such time, as the choice of queen is provided.
Oh, i hate the monarchy, but i think it is the only way this bunch of corrupt and scheming politicians, can be put out of business, and all the back door handshaking stopped. I belive that its high time, we held the queen accountable for her government..
So dont ***** on, when they have no choice

I agree but in the UK it is made too easy for people to deal with local authorities etc. as every leaflet is available in a multitude of languages. Not only is this a waste of local taxpayers money it is a disincentive to learning the language. How can society be integrated if people can't understand the language of the host country.

English is kinda the universal language-that's what I think anyway....two people who do not know each others language end up speaking the common language - english!
Anyway where I come from we have 11 official languages. 9 of which are black languages!
PS why is that guy going on about muslims when the Q was about english??? I was too tired halfway through his answer to read on!!!

if you are a citizen of a country you have a right to vote and you are a part of the eu so that expands the number of people that might have conversational english but not written english. get over it.

I agree! If you can't be bothered to learn Welsh or Gaelic you shouldn't be able to vote in those regions of the UK either.
