The book is (for right now) called 'Whats wrong with the bible.'
I just started it 3 hrs ago.
How many words do you think I will need to write about based on that subject?

If it's a novel, and your first one, it generally should be 70,000-90,000 words. Publishers don't like to take on long first novels, since they don't know how well they will be received by the public.

Nonfiction, you need to query an agent with your outline first. If an agent takes you on, then you write the book. It needs to be as long as it takes to make your point valid, and very well researched.

For nonfiction, you probably won't be able to make much headway in the world of publishing without credentials. Everybody wants to write a book...especially on your topic. A nonfiction book can't be simply a rant on why *you* think the Bible is wrong. It needs to be well researched and supported.

A pretty good rule of thumb is 250 words per page, meaning that you should shoot for around 50,000 words for a 200-page book. Although I might suggest that you revise the title to "What's Wrong with the Bible," as I'm not sure a publisher is going to give a second glance to a book whose title contains errors.

About 150,00-200,000. The novel that I am writing is currently around 160,000 words. I like write to about 5,000 words a chapter. I think that at least 3,000 words per chapter is pretty good. Since your topic is about the bible, then I would say that around 7500 is pretty good.

well generally the average number of words a book should have is 10842 words but i'd say a few less or a few more wouldn't be too detrimental.

7300 words is a good, very short book.

I think the going rate for manuscripts is around 80-110,000 words.

its the contents (whether you did a good job or not) that matters, not the length.
