It has nothing to do with thinking, it's not a question of opinion... They are not Arabs, they're Persians.
After posting my answer, I read some of yours and the ignorance never stops shocking me...
Rosh, "Persia" was never an Arab "city", or country for that matter.
Mark, it's true that most Iranians are Muslims, but that's irrelevant. Not all Muslims are Arabs.
John, your remark doesn't even deserve an answer... Are you SURE you're interested in something as intellectually perfect as Rachmaninov's music???

Arabs are those who live in Arabia and speak Arabic,
regardless of their religion,
there are some Christian Arabs for example.
Iranians are definitely not Arab, they don't speak Arabic.
Even if you ask a Muslim Arab about a Muslim Iranian, he'll say Iranian are not Arab.

No. Iranians are Persians. In fact they hate to be mistaken for Arabs. They feel about Arabs the way people in Britain feel about the French!
Persia was neither Arab nor a city! It was a huge empire stretching from Turkey all the way to China. The second oldest civilization in the world, after Greece.

No, Iranians are not Arabs. Arab means one who speaks Arabic language. Iranian language is Pharsi and it is different from Arbic and most of the words are near to Sanskrit the oldest languae of the world you can say the HIndu language. Iranians are very cultured and eudcated. Most of the Iranians follow Shia sect of muslim. Few of the Iranians are Sunni Muslims, Christians and Pharsis the origins. Most of the Pharsis (about thousand years back) got asylum in India as the muslim kindgdoms forced them to accept Islam. Everything is changed; Iranians are very cultured and educated now. They have no connection with Arabs or Arab culture except they are muslims. North Indians and the entire Iranians are the existing Arians.
