it's a sad comment on our society - Joe francis the owner makes $40 million a year -- and all these girls get are tee shirts. A few get $100, and that's it.
There is a great article in the Los Angeles Times Sunday magazine called West on August 6, 2006 that gives a great insight into the GGW world, joe francis and the girls who do it. Basically they all feel they're getting something from the other so it's not exploitation, but the article paints a clearer picture. Look it up at LA Times.com in the Sunday - west Magazine section. Lots of letters in the magazine last weekend about the article, which will blow you away. Joe francis hits on the LA Times reporter, then physically abuses her and harrasses her after. amazing stuff.
It's sad what people will do to get attention, but they will.

They have been objectified by people in the past, and live in the paradign that being pretty and getting the spotlight actually means something special about them.

No one has really taught them to be more than an image.

It's a way to get their fifteen minutes and they think it will catapult a career.

Best explanation for their behavior is probably a combination of alcohol, drugs, money, peer pressure and need for attention. It's not like they don't know what is happening because the show has been on for years and surely they have seen the other young girls behave and act so promiscuous.

But judging their activity from a larger context: all versions of porn, prostitution, stripping and even the Mardi Gras behavior (where the girls flash 'em for beads) then it becomes more understandable.

I remember some girls sueing them before, but there was some disclaimer for anyone entering a Girls Gone Wild party that they can be filmed nude. The girls lost the case.

Some folks just want, more than anything else, their "15 minutes of fame" in this world, regardless of the consequences to themself. Another example is some of the people who "try out" for American Idol. Absolutely no talent, etc. but they'll make absolute fools out of themselves for their brief moment in the sun, recognition, to be able to tell their grandchildren about it, etc.

People crave an identity apart from anyone else, and some will go to great lengths(and pain) to achieve it.

good question, easy answer, because it doesnt matter, the girls that perform on cam know they get a shirt plus the thrill of doing something that they were raised to think is forbidden,, note the girls are almost all prepatory vacationers,, to them its exciting , soemthing they can get away with,, as for money being made off them,, with fake breats that get shown,its hard to imagine some of these girls hurting for money

Because they are lit up like a Christmas trees. They don't ever go in to a library looking for ladies. It has to be a spring break type situation where every one is feeling good and pickles in their favorite liquor..
