Science is about un-ended learning. If one theory can be viably proved wrong a good scientist would try to find another answer. Science changes like everything else. The astronomers have new evidence that might prove that Pluto isn't a planet, why not find out.
It scares me to think what would happen if one was to force one answer to be correct forever when there is evidence to prove otherwise. We would be back in the dark ages persecuting people who ask questions.

Confirming their increasing brilliance is their version of a golf outing.
They didn't decide that because Pluto is not a planet, we now have to nuke Pluto out of existence. It's harmless so, let them do it.
Of course, you have to keep an eye on them. If they start talking about how Pluto is needlessly using up solar system resources, you gotta draw the line.

Because science doesn't just lie there, all done. Scientists have to, by nature of their nature, pick over questions like "Is Pluto a planet or an orbiting dwarf?" over and over again.
