Billy Volek is a great backup, As far as his confidence goes people here in Nashville know, that Young came in with a 50 million contract. Doesn't the NFL usually pay that kind of money to backup QB's. Volek knew he was out when that was announced, The Titans will have young learning from collins. The only thing volek can teach him is how to sit on the sidelines.

I think they will start Volek, but I can see Collins taking over at some point. The Titans will be hard pushed to win more than 4 games I think.

Go to NFL.com and read what the "experts" say. According to what I read, the brought Collins in to play and start ASAP. They are looking to trade or even simply cut Volek. Ultimately they want Young to start, be he's not ready yet. The Titans and Raiders are similar ball clubs, I say Collins play most this year, if not all, then the get fed up with his inconsistency, and look to Young, but I think they have already gave up on ol' Billy boy.

No collins should not be the starter, Volek is the better QB, and will have a chance to prove it. Collins is there just in case Volek gets hurt.

Volek will start at QB for the season while Collins learns the playbook. I will be surprised if Collins doesn't get the starting job at some point during the season.

I'm not understanding this move. I hear that Volek didn't look that good this preseason, but don't destroy his confidence before the season starts by bringing in another veteran. Besides, Vince Young knows more about the Titans offense (at this point) than Collins.
Another thing, it would have made more sense to bring in Jeff Blake.

Volek will. Young may by the end of the season, depends on what their record is late in the season. Oh and just think it could be worse, it could be Jeff George. Sorry still laughing at the Al Davis and the Raiders for taht one.

I think Volek will rise to the challenge and keep his starting job, the only way he loses it is if the Titans decide Vince Young is ready late in the season.

I think they signed Collins with the intention of using him as the starter. I'm not sure when he'll actually become the starter though, as he doesn't have too much time to learn the offense before the season starts.

No offense, but the Raiders are in for another bad season. I think they'll go with Collins at first. But as long as Al Davis owns the team, they won't be competitve. He lost his edge a long time ago and keeps making bad personnel decisions.
