Somehow some noise could have gotten into your mind and you dreamed about it.

It could be due to anxiety or stress or excitement from daily activities. Dreaming of actually hearing gun shot could mean you have warning in your subconscious mind about certain things..

You should know better what it is

Yes something similar happened to me . but i was asleep at the time. woke up groggy and a voice in my head said to pick up the gun i had by the bed in case somone broke in .didn't say what to do with it just to pick it up.when I started to reach for it I snapped awake and said what the h... was that about .
you may have heard a loud noise that your half awake brain interpeted as a gunshot.Hopefully a board slamed on the cocrete can sound like a gun shot.If you start having panic attacks or other signs of mental trouble seak help. better to safe than sorry if you are hearing things .

There are many books on dreams and there meanings. You can find out alot of stuff through those books. But what I have learned is that dreams are the brain[or mind]deleting information it don't need.kind of like deleting your cookies on your pc.Like a exhaust system on a car.The mind releases excess. Most of the time, the dream is something you have seen, either in real life or on a movie. The mind records everything even if you do not consciously remember it.When I dream I try to remember where those images originated. It's the ones that I absolutely have no knowledge of them at all that bother me,such as being somewhere I know I have never been or seen,on a movie or anything else in my life?????PEACE and SWEET DREAMS!!!

Most dreams are made up of events, people, sounds, smells, etc., that came into play recently. Did you have an experience with a gunshot sound or maybe a scene in a movie? Maybe you have anxiety and you feel threatened or scared. Anyway, it's hard to determine someone else's dreams. But personally, it helps to sit and ask questions to yourself as if to resolve the issue. Maybe you will find an answer linked to the mysterious gunshot. Good luck, hope it gets better.

This is actually called a hypnagogic hallucination.....in sleep studies, hallucinations can be sounds as well as seeing things. It usually is triggered by sleep deprivation or sometimes stress.
If this happens more than a couple of times a week, you might mention it to your doc.

actually this a common phenomenom. While falling into sleep people often hear things, and are convinced that it was real, but it is only a sleep phase event that seems genuine.
