I couldn't guess your nationlity from your user id, so I would list down the national competition of India -
There are many, but the most important of them is Ranji Trophy. Others are Duleep Trophy, Deodhar Trophy (one day), and Irani Trophy (Ranji Trophy champion vs Rest of India). There are few other no so significant though. They have plan to introduce national Twenty20 cup from next season.

It depends on the country you are talking about.
What I would like to know is, why isn't there an international competition for both first class and test matches. A true test of who is the best in the world. With either the best team in each country going into a pool to compete against each other to be the best first class team in the world. A similar competition for test playing nations which would be a real world cup as opposed to one day internationals. First class and test match cricket is a true test of cricket and always will be.

Cricket in most countries is structured heirarchically. The International team, then Domestic competitions, Grade cricket etc
So by National competition I will assume you mean domestic cricket. These are the games played internally within each country by the best club (or state/regional) sides at the level below the International side.
The major domestic competitions for the test playing nations are as follows:
Australia: 1st class: Pura Cup (Sheffield Shield); OneDay: ING Cup; 20-20: KFC Big Hit
Bangladesh: 1st class: National Cricket League, OneDay: National One-Day Cricket League
England: 1st Class: County Championship Div. 1 & 2; OneDay: C&G Trophy, Pro40; 20-20: 20-20 Cup, 20-20 Floodlit Cup
India: 1st Class: Irani Trophy, Challanger Trophy, Duleep Trophy, Ranji Trophy Elite, Ranji Plate; OneDay: Ranji OneDay Trophy, Deodhar Trophy; 20-20: To be established this year.
New Zealand: 1st Class: State Championship; OneDay: State Shield; 20-20: Twenty20 Comp
Pakistan: 1st Class: ABN-AMRO Patron's Trophy, Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, Pentagular Cup; OneDay: ABN-AMRO Cup, ABN-AMRO Patrons Cup; 20-20: ABN-AMRO Twenty20 Cup
South Africa: 1st Class: Supersport Series, SAA Provincial Challange; OneDay: One Day Domestic Cup, SAA Provincial Cup; 20-20: Standard Bank Pro20 series.
Sri Lanka: 1st Class: Premier League
West Indies: 1st Class: Carib Beer Series; OneDay: KFC Cup; 20-20: Stanford 20/20

England has County, etc.
