I am scared due to all the airplane crashes since 9/11. I want to go but I don't know if I can make myself get on a plane because I am so scared it will crash and kill me. If someone gets into a car wreck they may die but if the airplane crashes it kills everyone and a car wreck doesn't always do that

Don't worry. Flying is generally safer. If you compare number of deaths and accidents, both are significantly lower than that of car accidents. After 9/11, there have not been many significant air crashes. I can think of two. The Comair flight which was basically pilot error and the flight that crashed in Queens. This period of aviation since 9/11 has been one of the safest because of all the added precautions. If you are going with someone who has flown before that is good. If not, the stewardesses will take care of you. Once you're in the air for a minute or two, you will get the hang of it and you'll laugh at being worried. Have a safe trip and have fun in Vegas.

Believe it or not, air travel is still the safest form of travel. There have been recent concerns about flammable insulation used in airplanes as well as electrical wires with cracked housings. But airline companies have put cameras into the attic space of the plane to monitor any fire breakouts if they occur.

Also, some airplane mechanics unions have spoken out against out-dated rivets and fasteners that hold mechanical parts together. They have said that many of the "nuts and bolts" in today's airplanes are old and need to be refitted with newer parts. So far, about a third of american airlines have complied, so at least there is progress.

But you know what? You probably have more things wrong with your car than what you could possibly find on a plane. So don't worry. I just came from a flight from Florida to Virginia (with a stopover in Atlanta). So I can tell you from experience.

Don't worry, you'll be all right.

I use to love to fly prior to 9/11. Have flown in the last 2 years and I was nervous to say the least. But, on any given day there are at least 2000 planes in the air. The chances are slim that something bad will happen. Its just the chance we take flying these days sorry to say. If you are really that scared, go see your doctor and tell him this, and ask for a perscription for 2 valliums, one for the trip there and one for the trip back. Thats what a friend of mine did. If thats not an option, and your at least 21, have drink on the plane, it'll calm your nerves. Las Vegas is a blast!!!!! Just watch your purse like a hawk, lots of scammers waiting for tourists. Have Fun!

Hi. I understand you have a fear of flying. But take it from me...it's ok. Yes, terrible things have happened but let me start you off with some statistics:
Your chances of being involved in an aircraft accident are about 1 in 11 million. On the other hand, your chances of being killed in an automobile accident are 1 in 5000. Statistically, you are at far greater risk driving to the airport than getting on an airplane. However, the perception is that you have more control over your fate when you are in your car than as a passenger. Experience shows otherwise considering that over 50,000 people are killed on the highways every year.
Media coverage would suggest that such events happen daily. Studies have shown one would have to fly once a day every day for over 15,000 years in order to statistically be involved in an aircraft accident! Yet stories of aircraft accidents are between 150 to 200 times more likely to receive front-page coverage than other more common causes of death. Consequently, fearful flyers develop a negative bias toward flying. That is, they will bias their perception to notice those events and experiences that support their fears. Those fears become validated by the continual bombardment of information related to airline safety following an accident.
Airplane disasters and plane crash statistics make for more dramatic, "eye-catching" newsprint. Not nearly enough information is printed on aircraft safety and because disasters seem to be more newsworthy to the public, the media is naturally attracted to the financially acceptable print and naturally it is LARGE PRINT in these cases.

If its any convenience you're plenty extra in all probability to be killed in a motor vehicle on a thank you to the airport than certainly on a airplane - so do no longer concern approximately protection. I had the exhilaration of the oxygen mask dropping down on one flight while the cabin tension went - fortuitously it wasn't Ryan air, as little question could have been billed afterwards for the oxygen used - yet that hasn't positioned me off. it truly is plenty extra gentle than it grew to become into 40 years or so in the past once I first flew, even in livestock type (In those days human beings have been allowed to smoke on board - eek!). With all of the inflight leisure those days it truly is easy to ignore you're flying in any respect. Take off is all executed by using pc so its plenty smoother these days - you do no longer in all probability observe once you have certainly left the floor. it truly is not something like a rollercoaster - you're interior and you at the instant are not responsive to the fee. My ideal ever tip - consistently %. a metamorphosis of garments and a toothbrush on your hand bags. i grew to become into happy of this while caught in Bangladesh, at the same time as waiting for my case to capture up. chuffed landings.

no. it is not safe to fly but it is even more unsafe to breathe the air in a big city. more people die of pollution related illnesses than aircrashes.

We are all going to die one day and it will definitely be less lonely to die on an airplane than after being alone on a hospital bed for months on end.

so fly
soar into the sky like a butterfly
