Write them a recorded delivery letter stating that they have broken their verbal contract. Offer them the opportunity of giving you a full refund of what they agreed and ask them for an electricity meter calibration to check the accuracy of the meter. It is unlikely that the meter would have lost that much accuracy. You should be able to have a rough check even at this late satge even the meter reader made a mistake. If this is true then your next bill(s) if the meter has been read instead of estimated then you should have very little to pay if anything.
If you do not get satisfaction then write to the electricity regulator. I would even include in your letter that you are going to contact the regulator if their answer is not satisfactory. Energy suppliers don't like being reported to the regulator because if he receives to many bad reports he has considerable power. If the feedback to the regulator was particularly bad about an individual comnpany they could lose their liecense to supply so mention of the regulator in your letter will get their attention.

Switch supplier straight away to a reputable company.Tell atlantic to basically go F*** themselves,let them try and take action against you,get a good solicitor and report them to the office of fair trading or trading standards,ofgen is another.That should sort it out,just remember under no circumstance pay the bill as no one at atlantic will be interested in any complaint once the bill is paid.

First contact the company direct, then if no satisfaction go to the Ombudsman to sort the matter out. Alternatively you can use the Citizens Advice Bureaux where they offer free advice and can make telephone calls for you. Also, through them you can contact a solicitor and have a free session to resolve the issue. Best of luck!

I would never _ever_ recommend this company. Right pains in the backside they are. Check the very first read they are charging from is correct, check the tarriff is correct, check your latest read is also correct. Then, as soon as you can, switch supplier to Scottish and Southern energy, the cheapest around (afaik) and customer service is pretty much second to none.

please contact OFGEM www.ofgem.gov.uk they are the gas and electricity regulators for the UK. They will help you, they helped me get NPower off my back about 5 years ago. Make sure you keep every bill and records of phone conversations etc which will make things easier in the long run. Lots of people are getting screwed over by their companies at the moment, you are not alone. We are going to have to pay more for our supplies, it is our own fault for wasting so much of it and failing to recycle etc, but it is daft of the companies to yank it up so much so quickly. i'm so hostile to all of this that i do not even understand the position to commence with an answer! reread your meter and check that there hasn't been a mistake with either the initial meter reading or the current one, go back to them and complain that you were expecting to save money not double it... good luck
