My Del is a few months old. It has the printer all in one. There is a way to fax through the printer. Can you help me to know if I can automatically use it now, or do I need to do/have something else to use it? Thanks.

All-in-ones are normally only be involved in receiving faxes (printing them out at your end) or naturally, faxing something which was originally on paper.

To send faxes directly from your computer like word documents, you normally print them to the FAX: device (with something like WinFax set up, it's basically just another printer but instead of sending output across the USB cable or parallel cable, it sends the FAX via modem to the intended phone #) Of course this means your computer needs a modem, ad those are a vanishing breed these days.

I'm guessing the CD that came with your all-in-one might have software that allows you to redirect print jobs to FAX numbers instead of using paper- but I've always sent FAXes directly from the computer's modem.

The first time you set up Microsoft Outlook, it will configure your FAX settings.

Some all in ones usually include a program to fax directly from your computer. You would create the document then print to the fax machine instead of the printer which would open another window to enter the number you want to fax to.

check your machine's documentation to see if it was included on your install CD.
