Seriously, if aliens came down and "removed" all of the Estate Agents and blood-sucking salespeople would anyone really care? Would the world end? I think not.

I can't believe people are taking this question seriously!! It was meant to be lighthearted!

Salespeople aside, if one person can give me a *good* argument FOR estate agents I will give them the points. I see no need for them. They are merely and "inbetween man" that has the sole purpose of making money from one of life's necessities. The world would not stop revolving without them. People would just sell their own houses and wouldn't end up thousands of pounds out of pocket for the privilege.

If the absence of a good argument FOR estate agents, I will accept a good rant about foreign call centres ;o)

On a serious note there is probably some global economic reason that says without sales the world would die .. so I guess we need them.

If we said 'would we miss their invasive, privacy violating, bullying, cynical sales tactics' then the answer is definitely no!

I think the argument is that if they didnt sell 'aggressively' they wouldnt sell at all .. which to some extent is probably true .. but I am not a salesperson so I dont like being on the receiving end!

The world does need different ppl from different lives, bu ti tend to agree with estate agents, used to deal with a lot of them in a previous job and i must say they do seem to be quite along way up ppls bottom.....

Yes. You'd get a huge increase in white-collar crime (i.e. not paying off mortgages, etc.) resulting a total and complete collapse in the world's economy.

let's expand the list a little bit, and give the aliens people who try to give you finance you don't need and can't afford, accident lawyers, and anybody to do with double glazing

Can we give them telemarketers too? Making a "Don't Call" list surely didn't help.

Yes unless everyone learnt how to do their jobs themselves, but thats not going to happen so we do need them.
