I loved the book by Ursula Guin, and saw the 2 television adaptions (PBS and A&E). It is truly a fascinating story about world destruction and a man's (Orr) remarkable ability to effectively "dream" it back into different existences. Orr is not without his problems though which leads him into the psychiatric care of his soon-to-be rival Haber. The manipulative power-hungry Haber uses Orr to change the world in many ways that are very interesting.

Be careful for you wish for sums it up pretty good because things may not always turn out as expected. Good story no doubt.

What makes you think we aren't already that way? I have lots of clues that the world works exactly like that. Don't you? Be honest, now.
