Fortunately I don't get sick very often. When I do, I take that time to write character descriptions, think of a topic like sunrises/sunsets, oceans during different times of day/weather conditions, whatever, and write descriptive phrases as they come to mind. Most of them may start off gloomy, but once I get into it, it gets better.
It's also a good time to organize notes, read articles/books on writing/publishing, anything related to the field. It might be enough to spark some interest that you'll want to write for even a short time before you need to go back to bed or get more medicine.
I try not to let sickness defeat me. I imagine with as much humor as I can, the picture of a writer in a cold, dark attic writing by candlelight with a stump of a pencil back in some historical period. You do whatever you have to.
Hope you feel better soon. If the virus has hung on for this long, maybe you should see a doctor. Antibiotics won't help, but maybe there's an underlying cause that can be treated.

Yeah, I can't concentrate at all when I'm sick. For some reason I get really impatient and end up writing the way I speak. Not necessarily a good thing... I've never had a flu virus persist for weeks. You have my sympathies. Oh, and no, for the duration of the virus it doesn't get better for me. I have to wait until I'm well.

I have a hard time to write at any given time whether I'm sick or not. I think it just goes with the flow of things. You aren't able to be great all of the time...even though we would like to be. Good luck and I hope it comes back to you and you start feeling better. Take care.

I don't work when I'm sick unless I have an imminent deadline. I find that if I stress myself out trying to force a piece, I'm sick longer. So I curl up on the couch and ready trashy novels or watch documentaries all day long until I feel up to it.

The only thing the keeps me from getting anything down is when I'm pissed at someone. Sickness is just an opportunity to write from the comfort of your bed. It will pass soon enough.

yea...you need to have a clear mind to be able to write well. If your head is all congested and distracted with illness you will definitly not be able to do work. i am a college student right now and I get sick all the time because my immune system sucks, but whenever I am sick I can't even think about doing work, especially writing papers.

Um...no not really. Nothing physical really influences my writing, unless it's a splitting headache, or I can'ts ee for some strange reason. But even when I can't physically write, I still THINK about it very clearly without any problems.
