Some of the signs and symptoms are difficulty gaining weight, lots of energy, anxiousness, trouble sleeping, panic attacks, rapid heart beat, lack of menstrual periods, high blood pressure, diarrhea, hair loss, and pain in the arms and legs.

Some ill effects are of course blood pressure, insomnia, low weight, heart problems, fertility problems.

You should go and see a MD about it if you suspect this. It is a simple blood test that is called TSH.

If you have hyperthyroidism, it is called Graves disease.

hyperactive thyroid can be refferred to as a goitre or as grave's disease. the main symptoms are: heartpaplpitations, feel out of breath too quickly and have to lie down hust to get your heart rate back to normal, feeling tired, massive weight loss as your thyroud regulates your metabolism, you can see your thyroid in the neck protruding, your eyes hava a fat pad at the back - this increases in size and it looks as if your eyes are coming right out of the eyesocket. you start to shiver - it looks as if you have parkinsons. ill effects ive mentioned, but it depends what is making the thyroid hyperactive - too much secretion of the hormone TSH - thyroid stimulating hormone, too much T4 and T3.

the doctor will then do blood tests and treat the symptoms accordingly wit either eltroxin or ditroxin.

good luck
