Please be serious. This question has been vexing me for some time. Especially since they put me into solitary confinement.

Read the Book of Revelation. You won't understand it all (few do) but it will give you plenty of insight into the end.

First off all lets talk non biblical and look at what things could happen that have the potential to destroy life as we know it

1 Asteroid strike: You will as a member of the general public know about it about 5seconds before it happens. The pollies might be lucky and know about it earlier but I doubt if theyll make it public. Too much panic.

2 Reversal of the Earth on its axis : A massive increase in earthquake activity at the poles could be a signal of this. It has happened in the past. and it will happen again. Funnily enough there has over the last 40 years, been a huge increase in seismic activity at the poles, but I dont know if you put that down to an actual increase or better monitoring.

3 The eruption of one of the massive SUPER Volcanos such as the one under Yellowstone Would have the potentenial to create a life destroying event. Volcanologists would start to see to the very obvious signs

Now if you are talking Biblical then I would suggest you read
Matthew Chapter 24
Mark Chapter 13
Those passages are much easier reading than Revelation and are much more straight forward in listing the necessary factors which must come to pass before the biblical end of the world.

Of course we can also wait til the end of the Mayan calender. That finishes in 2012.

My serious suggestion though is to just live every day as though it could be your last. Cram as much activity, love and happiness you can into each one. Lets face it you could leave this mortal coil the next time you cross the road.

The book of revelations has several signs to announce the end of the world. But if you read that one you'll gladly concur with me
in the fact that whoever wrote it was on some old form of LSD.

Personally I think the most realistic sign would be to hear that one of either western or eastern leaders threatens to release one or more nuclear weapons. It would result in such a cascade of counter attacks that the world would go into nuclear winter which would result in the end of all living beings on this planet!

Two thirds of the worlds water will turn to blood and the moon will appear red as blood.
You will be able to see angles flying close to earth saying "Repent, repent", but the non believers,(even though they have seen all that has happened) still won't repent and accept Jesus.

The greatest sign, The Holy Ghost will be called back to Heaven. There will be no more Comforter.

Solitary confinement, huh, lucky you...

Don't be afraid, there are several signs, but especially when you hear that Jerusalem is being surrounded by its many enemies and that the temple in Jerusalem will be built is the greatest of all signs, (this is already beginning) it was also said that when you hear of rumors of wars all over the place, that's about to happen as far as a nuclear attack, there is a high possibility of that happening in the very near future.

Seek God and ask Jesus to be your savior, read the bible and you will have a lot of peace about it. God will grant you that peace, he came to save us, from all these things that are to come very very soon, we have to repent of our sins and ask him to be the Lord of your life, come into your heart and He will forgive you and accept you as his child, He will also guide you and comfort you, His word says, Do not be afraid, for I'm with you, even until the end of this world. God bless and peace to you dear. (Ask someone to get you a bible, it's very important to read about the signs, read the book of Mathew)

Seriously, a sharp escalation in this type of inquiry. When people start believing the end is imminent, they will fulfill their own prophecies. If people are legally and economically forced to care for their own offspring, population will equilibrate. If it dosen't, we will overpopulate in less than 100 years due to exponential growth. If a space-rock of some sort doesn't collide with us or very large scale nuclear war, we have as much time as we are willing to believe in humanity, rather than spurious, self-defeating "prophecies"

jesus said there would be wars, famine, floods, earthquakes, etc. when in history have these not been depressingly familiar backdrops? i think the point he was making is that there will be no sign at all. how else could he come as a "thief in the night?"
i think he was being just a bit sardonic here.

All the animals will be behaving oddly and dying. The world will be at war. Volcano eruptions, tsunamis, typhoons, hurricanes and earthquaks all over the place. Breakout of diseases and pests.

republicans stop overeating, and fill their hollow shells with compassion and wisdom, instead? ;-) (the same goes for all the narcissist sociopaths out there, eh?)
