it refers to women who have wide shapely looking hips
though in reality, the size of the birth canal doesn't directly correlate to the width of a woman's hips. so the saying is like a wive's tale.

I think it's an old wives' tale but a lady with wide hips is supposed to have a real easy time giving birth (but not making babies).

alot of men are attracted to what they call the pear figure, which is small waisted and larger hips and thighs. And yes it has been said women with this build are likely to carry a baby better and have an easier birth.

It means that the guy really needs to take a basic sex education course (or a human anatomy lesson) as soon as possible! Babies aren't made with the hips!
