You have a right to get what you paid for.
Ask what sort of deal they will make on an upgrade to one that has the features you want. They may make you a great deal.
If not, state emphatically that you bought the monitor based on the features it had including speakers, and if they can't replace it with one with the same features, repair the one you bought.
They have no choice but to comply. If they don't tell them you'll just refer the matter to your states Consumer Affairs Bureau and if they still make no attempt to comply, do just that.
Note: They may have you send it to the manufacturer for repair. This they can do if the monitor company requires it.
Also if they can't get it repaired in a reasonable amount of time, usually two weeks, demand your money back and take your business elsewhere in the future. Check local laws on reasonable repair times,. Yes, there is a law limiting the repair time as well.
The laws are there to protect your right to get what you paid for, but most stores don't expect people to use them, so they do what's easy for them.
I no longer settle for less than I paid for.
I fight tooth and nail over these issues now because I to have gone thru a lot of stuff like this and just had enough.

monitors can and do come with speakers.

its a trade off what PCWorld may be saying is that they no longer stock moinitors with speakers, but thats their choice. If you rant and rave they may be able to find a monitor with speakers, or they may suggest they will repair the faulty one (that may take some time). They could be just fobbing you off as all thye have in stock (or all they have availabel at that store/region for exchange is simple monitors

you could ask that they chuck in replacement speakers aswell (after all they aren't going to cost that much [to PC World])

the risk is they may get sniffy about the monitor they are replacing. they may give a lower quality one in exchange (check those specs and make sure its as good or better than the one you had previously

bear in mind they are replacing defective goods under warranty (they should ensure that you are in as good or better state than you were prior to the moinirot going wrong - its thier liability not yours, you shouldn't be worse off after they replace their defective equipment. see if you can blag a better quality, or bigger monitor if they are unable to provide an adequate / equivalemt replacement

at the end of the cycle you may just have to go and get some speakers but its worht asking.

ask for a better monitor (larger or better brand) than the one that broke. If they don't agree you can tell them "where in the world" they can put their suggested replacement.
