So, what do you think of Dolores Jane Umbridge? And her extremely cruel and unusual punishment of the quill that writes the lines the back of childrens hands? Do you think she should have been put back in the ministry of magic when they(LOL) finally found her?

She is wonderfully despicable! I think the reason JKR had her still working at the Ministry in book 6 after her very abusive practices at Hogwarts was to show the level of corruption in the Ministry. Her behavior is so awful; it makes me really feel angry on behalf of Harry and other characters. I think the scenes with her in Order of the Phoenix are some of the most emotionally engaging moments in the series so far. I would hate to meet a Delores Umbridge in real life, but as a reader, I was thrilled to hear that we will see more of her in book 7.

I kept thinking of all the laws they have in the U.S. to keep people from abusing children, and wondered if things are different in the U.K.! It really didn't make sense that those punished children never thought to turn her over to some authorities. She is definitely twisted, and JKR must have put her back into the ministry because she's going to be part of future evil-doing that will come out of there.

Love Her!!! She is very well written. And to answer that question about child abuse laws... even though i don't live in Britain i know that they couldn't go to the British police and tell them that their teach at a school of magic is abusing them with a magical quill...that would expose the magic world...duh!

She's a fabulous, love-to-hate, very well-written character, and I think Imelda Staunton is the perfect person to play her. All their casting decisions (with the exception of Lupin in the third movie) have been spot on.

I think she is a pompous witch (obviously) but at the same time she is one heck of a lady that can get what she wants and when she wants it and is a very strong character. And like most people like that she had her sad (but enjoyful and deserving) end.

Interesting Character I definitly hate her so she is a good enough character to bring such feelings in those who read about her.
