The books are great, but three, four, and five movies have stunk. well i mean, of course i haven't seen the fifth one yet, but i think it will be in ruins. mad eye moody didn't look anything like i envisioned, and i'm sure umbridge will be the same. after reading every book 6 times before, you come to expect something from the movies. and how could they not have quidditch. it IS a huge storyline. they probably will cut so much stuff out of the movie, to keep in timeline. they did great in the sorcerer's stone, and chamber of secrets, but then they seemed to decide to take a humorous take on it, rather then the drama/fantasy, that it is. i bet they will butcher the dreams and everything. and they way over exaggerate on harry's reactions to things. every other scene, it seems like daniel radcliffe is either screaming or passing out! i'm going to keep watching the movies, since i wouldn't be able to not watch them. it sounds weird, but its true. i think you should too, since they may take a surprising change. i doubt it, but you never know. as for j.k. rowlings, i don't think she has very much control over the director's changes. she might though. i hope this helps. :]

I was disappointed too with the Goblet of Fire movie but only because they left out so many things from the book. Then again, if they included everything, the movie might run for 5 hours straight or even more! Why don't you just enjoy the movies for the visuals and just think of them as a sort of "footnote" to the book? I usually re read the book right before the movie comes out so that I don't feel cheated since I remember what really happened.

Gurl do not even get me started on Prisoner of Azkaban! It was horrible! I never wanted to watch the movies bc i knew they would not do the books any justice, but i was like ok maybe the 3rd one wont be that bad. Boy was i wrong. The 3rd book is my favorite in the series and it was ruined in the movies. People who just see the movies really dont feel the relationship between Harry and Sirius. So in the 5th movie people arent going to really care that much that Sirius dies. I cried for hours when i was reading POA. I dont know why JK allows her books to be butchered but she really needs to do something. I already know that they are going to leave a lot of key elements of the movie. But hey she makes like $100.00 a minute so, i dont think JK cares that much.

The movies can never be equal to the books. JK Rowling put so much into the books to make them as amazing as they are. This is Rowling's story, not the moviemaker's. JK has a story to tell, and she started telling it, despite the fact that at first she thought no one would like them. It wasn't until Hollywood realized that the public liked the books that they started milking the public for money as they made films of the books that were already popular. JK doesn't have to cut costs to put her words on paper, but with every minute of a movie costing a million bucks, something's got to give.

The only was I can enjoy the movies is separate them from the books... like they are 2 different things. If I don't I spend the time comparing the 2 and it ruins the movies which are excellent on their own but horrid compared to the books.

I agree with you. It is very unfortunate when a movie does not live up to the level of the book. I have not been satisfied with any of the movies and JK seems to be less and less interested in them. She was so hands on at first, but seems to care less and less with each new movie. Hopefully her lack of interest in the movies means she is dedicating more time to the next novel.

ADAMANT- a legendary stone thought to be impenetrable...;resolute ; unyielding.......
i think you should try reading a dictionary more than harry potter , try avid reader , or even voracious...these fit ..adamant does not....and I doubt seriously if you will ever stop watching them , you are too hooked , quit complaining , and enjoy...have a great night !......GR1M

They only have a couple of hours to tell the story in a movie. Things have to be sacrificed. I agree with you that movies should be true to the book, but with a book that long it wont happen.
