I'm planning to buy a laptop for home use. I've narrowed it down to 2 models both about the same price.

One laptop has a Core Duo T2300E Processor 1.66GHz; 512MB RAM; while the other has a Pentium M Processor 760 (2GHz); 512MB RAM.

Which one is better? Faster? Thanks.

Pentium M is specially design for lab top. it generate less heat and power efficiency is optimized for longer battery life. (It's modified Pentium 3 processor)

Intel Centrino is duel-core processor design for lab top. it's great for multi-tasking. Like M, the power efficiency is very good.
In case T2300E is Centrino duo model, It will be a better choice for you. later model than M, and it's faster.

Core Duo T2300E Processor 1.66GHz; 512MB RAM is better for simple reason - it has core duo ...two brains on one chip..it provides double the computing power as the other one

Go with the Core Duo. You won't be disappointed.

-- And to the guy above: WRONG! AMD just introduced their Turion 64 X2, and guess what? It STILL falls behind the Core Duo in some areas (let alone the mobile version of the Core 2 Duo)

The Core Duo *should* work better but I'm not 100% sure.

Believe me, it's Core Duo.

Reasons ?

Intel Centrino is dual-core processor specially design for laptop. it's great for multi-tasking.

In fact, dual-core processer is tested to be faster then those desktops with 2 processor chip combine.
