Easy, a router, a router plugs in to ur cable modem and provides a wireless network throughout the house. If you do not have a wirelss, then a router can still be used, but you wopuld need an Ethernet cable from the 2nd computer to put into the back of the router.

You need to get a firewall device like the inexpensive ones by Linksys. The firewall connects to the cable modem and gets the IP address. Then, you can hook multiple computers up to the firewall and each gets its own internal address from the firewall.

There is some configuration to be done on the firewall so get some help from your neighborhood geek.

a cable modem only carries 1 Ip address if you check your Ip's on both computers you will most likely find that the port numbers are different. IE

153.21.365.1:28960



153.21.365.1:28966



by assigning each pc its own port number the two pc"s will not conflick each others connectons.
