Because when she turned 18, some millionaire who calls himself a "consultant", who knows nothing about anything, told her that she's not a kid anymore so she'd better start looking like an adult if she wants to keep working in Hollywood.
So what did she do? She lost WAY too much weight, she had a nosejob to lose that "little girl" look, and she completely changed the way her hair and her makeup are done. The whole change was so drastic that she now looks anorexic, uglier, with the skin and makeup of a sunburned 20 dollar whore.
And that was done so she could keep working in Hollywood! After another year or two passes she'll be waiting tables at Denny's if she didn't save her money from the Disney years.
The moral of the story is this: Do NOT let anyone else do your thinking for you. They'll try to shape you in their image...not your own image.

I noticed her change, too. That's what make me feel that Hilary is not my fav. singer/actress after all. I am really sad for her. She was very cool, and her weight was just nice. She was hilarious and oh gosh, really pretty. Hilary, if you read this, be normal. I am a fan of yours, and puh-leese, be like you used to be. I can't stop thinking on how you've changed.
PS: Most of my fav. singer/actress changed. Hilary changed, Britney changed, Avril married and kinda changed, and now, Lindsay changed! The Olsen Twins too!!

Because Lindsey Lohan sabbatoshed her career, and came out more sluttier. Just face it, Hillary Duff wasn't showing enough skin, she wasn't racey enough- and Lindsey Lohan came in and did all that Ms Duff wouoldn't (plus more!!)
Oh, maybe it was the attempted singing career!!! Tisk, tisk, tisk, these celebrities just have to be the jack of all trades, huh!

She got too famous and caught up in the celebrity lifestyle. Most celebs look better when they started out their careers and some lose touch after a while. In some cases, really disastrous, look at Jan Michael Vincent.

it's called fame, you can't be famous and be perfect, unless your the kind of celebrity that thinks being annorexic is hot!! i think it's disgusting the way that they treat their bodies, i think they need to realise that they are famour because of a talent or skill they have and that looks aren't everything...
But in the end i totally agree with what you say, i think that it's a shame what they think they have to do to be in the spotlight, they should be shown praise for who they are and for what they do, but not for what they look like...

she got veneers because she broke her front tooth completely at a concert, because when she was younger she was always taking antibiotics or whatever and that made her teeth really weak. personally, i think she still looks beautiful
