I read some sites... that pregnant woman has to avoid eating fish. Fishes these days are high in mercury, not good for baby brain development. But I love salmon...

During pregnancy you should not eat any kind of raw fish. I think cooked salmon is okay but you can check which fish are safe to eat and which are not.

This is from the site that is mentioned above." you should completely avoid shark, swordfish, king mackerel, and tilefish (also called golden or white snapper), tuna steak (fresh or frozen), orange roughy, Spanish mackerel, marlin, and grouper because these fish are at the top of the food chain and contain the highest levels of mercury."

You can google search the many opinions out there. I am 34 weeks pregnant with my 2nd and love sushi and sashimi. There are definitely risk to eating raw meats. I can't help but give into my cravings every once in awhile(once a month). I stick to my same reputable place that I have eaten at for years. Try to only order cooked rolls and hope that there is no freak incident of tainted meat and cross-contamination.... Ha, now I know what I want for dinner tonight!

Any kind of "bottom" fish such as dog fish is harmful. Farmed salmon should never be eaten at all when you're pregnant. Tuna and fresh salmon are safe. If you don't know if it's a bottom fish or not, I would suggest not eating it. I would definately not eat anything raw, why take the chance.

Raw fish of any kind is a big NO for pregnant women. Tuna in fresh water or fresh cooked salmon is safe to eat. The omega 3 oils in tuna are good for both mother & developing baby.

Those sites are correct. It's okay to have cooked fish in moderation, but the mercury and sodium amounts in fish can be really harmful to baby. people are going to tell you that alot of those sites are inconclusive, and maybe years from now, they'll be more accurate. But to stay on the safe side and keep your baby out of harms way, I'd skip it for the remaining months you have left. It's a small sacrifice considering the lifetime your baby would have to deal with some birth defects all because mommy wanted fish.

Please be aware that raw fish, meat and eggs are not advisable for pregnant women. Certainly you dont want coliform bacteria, toxoplasmosis and salmonella inside your body with the precious baby. And also, shark, swordfish and canned tuna/mackerel are high in mercury so you might want to avoid all these. Mercury could cause your baby to suffer brain damage resulting to delayed development such as delayed talking and walking.....

Hun, Japanese women have been eating these things for ages while pregnant.
The latest news is bound to change in a few years anyway...
remember they used to say eggs were bad for your cholesterol? Now doctors say it is genetics, not food that gives you high cholesterol.
