OK, my brother is getting married in 2 weeks. His fiancee (the bride) sent me a link with pictures of her wedding dress several months ago. I thought it was gorgeous when I saw the pictures, but kinda forgot what it looked like as time went by...... In the meantime, I bought a dress for myself to wear to the wedding. I absolutely love the dress I bought, but I am now in a dilemma... I revisted the pictures of the bride's wedding dress, and realized that the dress I just bought for me to wear is very similar to her wedding dress! I didn't even realize that when I bought my dress! Here are links to pics of her wedding dress and my dress:

Do you think I should get a different dress? Or am I making a stink about nothing?

Wow, people are being really mean and inconsiderate about this question. Lots are talking about 'not wearing white' at this wedding. THE DRESS IS RED. God, some people are stupid.

Anyway, I personally think that the dress is different enough so that you won't be upstaging her. The bodice and necklines are different, as are the hems. Plus, you probably don't have the same body shape as her, so when you both are wearing your dresses, they will be distinguished simply by the way the dress fits to your bodies.

Don't worry about people accusing you of being 'mean' or 'rude', you're obviously considerate of her feelings, no one who didn't care would go to the trouble to ask the question.

Yes, No female should ever wear white at a wedding, It is disrespectful to the bride, I don't care what anyone else says, Tradition and Courtesy is that the bride is the only one wearing white, It's a shame you didn't know what her dress looked like. But still that is in bad taste to wear a dress similar or even like hers. Sorry, you will have to find a new one

It is a very similar style dress even though its a different colour so I definitely dont think you should wear it to the wedding.

And DO NOT ask the bride if its ok for you to wear it - that puts her in a very awkward position and she may feel like she is being petty if she says you cant... when really she has every right to say so.

Put yourself in the brides place - you wouldnt like it if one of your guests wore a dress similar to yours on your big day right?

The fact you were worried enough to ask the question kind of gives you your answer. I hope you make the right decision.

Maybe a little too close for comfort, you don't want to be THAT girl, do you? The wedding colors don't include red, right? Then you may end up looking like a bridesmaid. It is a gorgeous dress, would be hot for a night out... Besides, isn't it always great to have a reason to buy a new dress :)

Im a guy and have a weiner so I dont know much about this stuff but I always heard you shouldnt do anything to take the focus off the bride. If you wear a similiar dress, that would probably qualify

Yes, this is considered rude.

This is the big day of her life, and she shouldn't be upstaged. That's why bridesmaids dresses are always so ugly! The cuts of the dresses are very similar so you shouldn't wear it, especially if you are "as hot as or hotter than" the bride.

There are plenty of other places and times you can wear the dress. It's very cute, wish I had one like that!

Yes, it is in poor taste to buy a dress just like the bride's. It's HER day, not yours. It's like you're competing with the bride on her special day. You should really return the dress and get another one and not be so selfish.

Traditionaly, yes. The bride is suppose to be the most glamorous, including her dress. You also aren't suppose to wear white. Its the brides day to be queen and stand out,her day. Sorry but you really should find something else,non-white,and not of similar designs.

I think it is different enough and is red, so you should be ok. If it was a lighter color, it might have been a different story. You could also ask the bride what she thinks about it. If she feels it isn't a problem, then it wouldn't be one.
Very pretty dress, BTW!

Get a different dress right now!

This is HER day not yours and you don't want to ruin it for her by having the same or similar dress.

You also don't want to cause problems with your brother or parents either do you?
