I'm a good runner, but I need to get faster. How would I go about improving my cardiovasculer level and become faster? Any help would be well appreciated.

I think i'm in the same situation. The best is intervals, fartleks, and like 25-30 minute runs. My coach always says to get some good intervals in. (you can either do fartleks or intervals) i really like to swich off. Then with the 25-30 minute run, I have practice after school now, so now i do a really good run in the morning. I really try hard to make myself go for like five miles, at a four mile pace, four miles at a three mile pace, and so on. Have fun with it. i hope you do well.

I need a lot more information from you to give a good answer, but in general....

By training at your VO2. You need to do intervals on the grass of 3-5 minutes with 2-4 minutes rest. These intervals should be run at about 3k-5k pace. Do up to 8% of your weekly mileage worth. For instance, if you're running 60 miles per week, you should do up to 4.8 miles of these intervals.

weight training, both for stamina and for high weight. run EVERY day for at least 30-45 minutes (every day you don't run you lose two day's worth of training). do hill workouts. get to know how to pace yourself, so you have a general idea of how fast you are going
