I'm taking an online class this semester so I'm always on the computer. The only trouble is that when I check my mail to see if my professor has written I see something from Yahoo! Answers and I come here instead of doing my work. What can I do about this? I don't want my grades to suffer, but I don't seem to have any self-control :(

Create a mindset of determination and resist ignoring your homework. Being able to do so is a good test of your maturity. being able to stay on task will be a determining your qualities in the workforce. Reward yourself with time on Answers.
Also might try changing your profile so that your answers don't come to your inbox.

Just do your school work first. Yahoo answers will always be here after you finish your school work. Make sure school comes first. Don't want your grades to suffer.

This is a good test for when you are graduated and on the job, you will be tempted to Yahoo! at work too but you can't! bosses know every site you visit so consider this practice, if you fail here you fail later too!

Allow yourself to come here but only once per day as a treat after your done your homework.
Limit the time you are here by putting a kitchen timer by the computer.
Start it for 60 minutes and when it dings, leave.

Take yahoo answers off of your front page, if you can't be disciplined to refuse to play before your work is done. Believe me, you have this one time in your life to do well in school so don't compromise your future by getting drawn off track! Best wishes to you.

You need to set a time so you can just do homework and set a time to come in here. Its fun to come here and read questions but school is for your lively hood. Most questions will be here for days so you really won't miss anything.

well, if you know your going to be tempted with yahoo and other sites. Just go to your on-line class write down or print out what you need to know and log off. Come on! we'll still be here after your down with your work.

I think that it's something you are going to have to teach yourself. First homework, then yahoo answers. Discipline. If you can't discipline yourself to do this how do you expect to do other serious things that will be required in the future?

when i tried to email you i got a resopnce.......
