coronary bypass?
it's not really a question of something being better or worse, but just being indicated in different situations. if the occlusion in the coronary artery is too big for angioplasty, or recurrs too much, then bypass can indicated

no there are no other fixes for it , neither better nor worse yet!
Both my Father and my Father In Law went through by-pass surgeries the only difference being my father got it done immediately and my Father in law did after quite a while ( which affected the working of his heart permanently ) where as my Father who got it done 1 week after getting his test results is in great shape and started going back to his job 3 weeks later ( works 10 hrs daily ).
My advice if your doc says go for a by-pass do it now don't wait around to find out too late there are no alternatives!
Good Luck for the Surgery.

You can have medicated stents, if your medical condition allows that. It is quite a short procedure and you can go home in a couple of days. Even in by-pass, there is a new technique called "Beating Heart" surgery, which is lot less invasive and requires shorter recuperation. There is a pioneering hospital in India called Krishna Heart Institute that provides 5 star cardiac treatment at very low cost and no wait. You can check with them - they provide free guidance as well.

If you're talking about bariatric bypass, than the answer is no. Just do a lot of research on it before you do it. Make sure the doctor has done many of them and find out what his mortality rate and his success rate is. There are many websites on the internet. I used to work with one at the hospital. They are not all equal.
