You have to. It might hurt but you can't keep letting people hurt you.

It may lessen it. And it may prevent further pain. But it doesn't end the pain that already happened. You can only achieve satisfaction by doing what you want to do and know completely that only you made that choice, by owning that decision.

I have family members whom I have not spoken to in 20 years or more. Although I exclude them from my life, I still think of them on a daily basis. So it still hurts.
I am a person who places great emphasis on friendships. I do not make friends easily, even tho I am friendly to everyone. (A big difference).
Once a friend screws me over, I tend to hold a grudge forever. And I DO mean forever.
It is unhealthy. It is like poison to my heart but I cannot help it.
I just can't let go.
I also go for revenge... which is not a good thing.
My advice to you is to try to let go, move on and forgive...
even tho I am unable to do so.
Maybe you can be a stronger person than me.
Resentment, and hatred bring you down. I wish I could take my own advise.

YES!
It will not give you any satisfaction, but time will heal the wounds. If you let them stay around to hurt you again time can not help.

I did to an extent, my father is an alcoholic and I couldn't take it anymore, not saying I don't love him...I do very much..but the heart can only take so much before it breaks. I feel miserable, but I have done all that I can...now it is up to him..sounds heartless, but I need to step back for a while

Just get them out of your life, don't always look for satisfaction. Some one quoted "Holding a grudge is like being stung to death by one bee." You push them out of your life and move on.

When the time comes, you know you have to make the right decision that is to let go... Its never easy to let go someone or something that you love dearly but it is the only right way to do for you not to get hurt again...That's how life goes... For you to get back up again...

Well i am in the process of letting go of someone that i really love with all of my heart. she is pregnant with our child also so i am trying to let go of that as well. I love them both dearly with all my heart and it's my desire to be there for them in life. but she doesn't love me anymore and i have hurt her beyond belief, i feel that in order for her to be a better person, she wants to be happy without me, so i backed off with trying to work things out, i put my feelings i have for her and the love i have for our unborn child aside to help her become a happier person for the health of our child. its not really an end to my pain, but its a start. i learned that i can't keep holding on to something that doesn't want to be held on to. I love her with all my heart and my unborn child is second to none in my heart, i just needed to let go and back away for a while.
