Ok I am about as far left a liberal as you can get. If I go any farther left, I will fall off...

Btw, your figures are incorrect. PBS The Newshour had the figures on yesterday at around 7.3 million per day and soon to hit 1 trillion dollars.

My current policy on the Middle East is to pack up and get the hell out of there. My reasons are because they have an elected government; they have a constitution, they have a police force....

At this point all we are doing is attracting more and more terrorist and now a civil war has started.

We have met our goals and it is time to go. Bush himself on the deck of that ship said, "Mission Accomplished."... time to go.

The true Liberal wants liberty for the people of the Middle East and supports the effort to establish a government Of The People over there.

The Leftists, who call themselves 'Liberals' just to confuse the issue, will do whatever they can to cause Bush to fail so they can achieve political gain. Leftists tend to murder civilians by the millions to secure their political power - so the consequences of failure in the M.E. are not such a big deal to them.

certainly, the expert fee of the Iraq conflict is over 100B according to 12 months. The unofficial fee is plenty plenty larger and has been positioned at over a million Trillion US funds so a procedures. astonishing! i'm uncertain pointing to the Liberals now's the splendid answer- after the present administration as needless to say squandered an astonishing volume of factors and accomplished basically further instability. I kinda' wish yet another Republican gets in workplace. It ain't the Democrat's job to freshen up this mess. with any luck a republican with somewhat extra economic duty and information.

They can't. The conservative plan only leads to escalation, since the plan is to use military force to change the minds of billions of people. It's utterly impossible either to save money or lives when there is no end to the enemies you face. If they weren't enemies from the start, they will be, once they see the US attack country after country filled with Muslims, so the wars, and the costs, can only climb.

The Liberal plan? Haven't heard that there is one particular plan, but here's mine.

Put Israel on notice. Tell them to quit attacking their neighbors and give back the disputed territories, and they will continue to enjoy US support to maintain their country's safety. Otherwise, it's over, and they're on their own. But, make it clear, any nuclear bombage of ANYONE from them, and we're going to stomp them with both feet.

Then, and only then, (give the fighters in Iraq time to assimilate the policy shift on Israel), do a full scale sweep of Iraq. Mobilize whatever forces are necessary, and put more than enough troops on the ground to clean the place out and hold the ground as they go. Once it's held, with the troops still in place, hold another election, this time ensuring that everyone gets their ballot, no one has to trade it for food or water, no one is threatened with death if they don't vote a certain way. Get a real government in power, one the Iraqis can respect, and believe they really chose it. When it's firmly ensconced, put forth a big push to rebuild, then leave. Really leave, no permanent bases.

Make it clear that we are committed to a diplomatic solution with Iran. Open a dialogue, and keep it open! They plainly want to talk, but they just as plainly are prepared to accept the possiblity (probability?) that we will attack them just as we did Iraq. Seems like a no-brainer to me! The ball is in our court on this one, and has been from the outset. Lets see, another fruitless, endless war (this time on a country that is ready for us), or NOT! Another war that will kill tens of thousands and enrage billions, or NOT!

We'll have to spend some more money to eventually save money, but the goal is to stop the escalation of violence, and with it the hemorrhaging of taxpayer dollars to fight unwinnable wars. Lasting peace may be only a dream, but then so is a lasting solution. I'll settle for some stability, and time to let the lessons of the past few years sink in.
