When I tell someone how I REALLY feel, I find it more important to look into their eyes, than the other way around. Then again, I think that it also depends on the person and the circumstance.
for instance:
If the sun is right behind them, it would be hard to look them in the eyes.
If you got something in your eyes and you had to rub it out, this would obviously change the dynamics of the portrayal of your True Intentions.
Eyes are the window to your soul. When you look into someone's eyes, you can feel certain emotions. Eyes are important.
My eyes have had 2 muscle surgeries and I find it hard to keep my eyes still for very long. But I do stare into someone's eyes when I am trying to make a point to them. If you do not look into someone's eyes, it will be easier for that person to forget you.

Telling them how I feel because I am not generally an open person. But I hope I am an accepting person so I have no problem looking into someone's eyes when they are telling me how they feel. I prefer eye contact with intimate conversations overall, on my or others behalf.

Well, I guess it depends if a person is visual or audial(sic?).
For me, I'm very sound sensitive so I listened to their voice and intonation, looking into the other person's eyes detract from this- so I mainly focus on how they say what they say with some but little eye contact- just for visual clues.
