Teaching: Make someone learn the language, he becomes independent (u r paid once!)
Interpreting: Make both the parties understand what they mean to talk about (double pay!! ;) n u get it every time!)

I think that language teachers show other people how to use a language to communicate with each other. They should be very competent in that language's grammar, natural usage, writing styles, etc.
Interpreters have mastered at least 2 languages and help the speaker of one communicate with a speaker of the other. For example, a Japanese businessman and a German businessman want to make some kind of business deal but have no mutual language of communication, so they ask someone who speaks both Japanese and German to translate the conversation on both sides.

the difference between teaching a language and interpreting a language is that the former, language is being teached in order to learn how to speak and use it as medium for communication. while the latter is just a part of teaching the language, meaning, we learn how to interpret the message being conveyed by learning the laguage.(p.s. thats how i understand it)

teaching is when you show someone how to do something for themselves.
interpreting is when you do it for them
