I was watching a show on makeovers and one of the makeup artists rubbed water on eyeshadow to make it go on creamier and easier? Has anyone done this and does it work? Also, Could you use black eyeshadow and a dab of water as eyeliner and apply it with an eyeliner brush? Does anyone do this or has anyone even heard of it?

I don't use eyeliner. I wet a Q-Tip and put black eyeshadow on it. It works much easier than a pencil or liquid eyeliner. The brand of eyeshadow I use it "Studio Gear" The container has alot left and it's been over a year and a half since I bought it.

You can also apply a little petroleum jelly to loose eyeshadow. This is a great look but I don't care too much for it because I think my eyelids get too greasy. Also, you can apply eyeshadow with a fine brush to get eyeliner, I personally don't prefer this method either. Eyeshadow or any cream or pencil liner smudges and wears out during the day, that is why I depend on a fine line of liquid eyeliner.

Yes, to both questions.
Some eyeshadows work really well with water. I like the ones by Aveda.
I like to use eyeshadow as eyeliner, it is much easier to apply that way and doesn't look as dramatic as liquid eyeliner. You should got to a beauty counter at some department store and ask them for advice.

i think Bare Escentuals eyeshadows (which come as loose powder) are designed for use wet or dry. also, you can use the shadow as eyeliner; you just switch to the eyeliner brush & use water. there are instructions for how to do all this in the Bare Escentuals Beginner's DVD, which comes with the starter set. (about $60 for the most basic set, but which includes a bunch of stuff, but not the actual eyeshadow -- for alllll the stuff, eyeshadow included, you'd pay a lot more.) you can buy sets at www.bareescentuals.com or www.sephora.com

good luck! =)

I use a bit of water with my eyeshadow most of the time. And yes, I have used the black or gray for eyeliner. I use a Q-tip tho because I'm going for more of a smudged look.
I assume you're talking about cake shadow - it keeps it from brushing off so easy.

I have used black or dark brown eyeshadow with a tiny amount of water in a pinch but its difficult to control if youre used to pencils. I do like to add just a tiny amount of water to my shadows and mix it a little as if you were mixing paint to get the right consistency. You have to use a better quality product to achieve good results. The cheaper products have too much talc and tend to clump. Good Luck!

Yes! It gives a richer look to the shadow and adheres much better in hot, sticky summer weather. The shadow as an eyeliner is also much more subtle and perfect for office or day time.

I have done it with shadow. When you wet it, it will also go on darker. Yes, you could do the eyeshadow as eyeliner.

i love mixing water with my eyeshadow..it makes it creamy...the frost kind is super to experiment with. As far as eyeliner...use little water to keep it dark..more to get lite look. It stays on better and use a thin brush...but becareful...or you'll get a paste look if you are putting on too much.
