Well, it seems to have done wonders for the recruitment of terrorists. On the other hand, all the terrorists are so busy fighting in Iraq, they don't have time to do anything else. Of course, if we had not invaded Iraq, the terrorists would not be there, either. bin Laden and Saddam Hussein weren't exactly on the best of terms. bin Laden wants a theocracy. Saddam Hussein liked being a dictator. bin Laden hated Hussein because of Hussein's secular government. Al Qaeda had no ties with Iraq until we toppled the government there and they saw a chance to move in, fight the US, and recruit more terrorists.
We should have "stayed the course" in Afghanistan and gone after Osama bin Laden instead of letting him slip through our fingers.

Most of the insurgents killed over there are not Iraqi. Most are militants from other countries such as Syria, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Iran, Palestine, etc..etc.. Better to fight them here than have them back in the US is my thought. Unless we stop backing Israel, remove all troops from Middle Eastern countries (including the ones that want us there) They will continue to attack us.
