I heard this somewhere about evolution that it takes this long.

The first point you probably don't realise is that our ancestors were probably white or at least light brown. Take a look at a chimp sometime, they usually have white skin. See the photos below. Since chimps are our closest relatives it seem plausible that our ancestors were white.
So the real question is how long it took white skin to evolve into black.
And no what you say isn't true. Skin pigmentation is a very superficial trait and alteration of a single gene can turn a "black" person into a "white" person or vice versa.
As such black skin can evolve into white skin in a single generation, or white skin into black. So far from taking 20, 00 years it can take as little as 15 years.

Probably takes that long if the society is dumped in a frozen wasteland where they get severe vitamin D deficiency, assuming a small enough population for sufficient inbreeding to keep the mutation.
It's a lack of function mutation... you are losing a trait and not developing a new one. Doesn't take that long, evolutionarily speaking. Brown skin is actually much more advanced to deal with most climates.

i think it would take considerably longer, speaking in terms of evolution. twenty thousand years is an eyeblink. but black skin is the dominant gene, so go far back enough,and every body's a brothah or sistah.( which should irritate the bejeezus out of white supremacists everywhere!)

NOPE....just give me a brotha and let me have his babys and let them keep mixing and i woulld say within 50 yrs at the most we would have some white skinned black folks in my family!
