In a motel, you enter your room from the outside. In a hotel, you enter your room from inside the hotel building. Or vice versa, I can't remember which is which but that is the difference.

hotels have hallways and the doors to the rooms open into them,where MOtels comes from MOtor hoTEL.Your car is parked by the door!

A motel is usually cheaper and comes with less accomidations

A hotel is fairly more expensive but usually comes with better beds, cleaner rooms, larger rooms/bathrooms, bigger tvs, more cable channels, sometimes a pool and spa, etc.

The hotel has a lobby and cost more, motels are cheaper and have no lobby.....
