its very true.
man indeed is a social animal...can't live solitary....but in modern times..the concept of being "i, me myself"as the whole and sole is rapidly growing.
the fast & busy life can't be blamed for the breaking social ties and nuclear attitude of humns..leave alone concept o f nuclear families.
But,the reality that still holds true is,we cannot survive alone,we need company...companionship....and support from society in any & many forms.society is inevitable.

After all the advancements man has made till date, there is no need to prove that man IS a social animal! Whatever we are and have got today, are the gifts of our societies. A human child left alone in the jungle cannot survive and, even if it does, will remain in the primitive stage. On the contrary, every child born and brought up in the society is superior to the earlier generation.

I think generally yes, the difference is that human beings can decide to be social or not, whereas many animals rely on social behaviors for survival. Herd mentality provides protection, and social classes help mantain order that provides stable living conditions. Humans can run the gamut of constantly needing companionship to being completely isolated, and both lifestyles can provide for a happy existence depending on the person. I think in general people need some sort of social contact, physical and mental interaction. Emotional stimulation, etc.

We are all animals in some way or other. Like some animals do have human traits in them, similarly all humans have some specific animalistic traits in them. "man-is-a-social-animal".. is all about feeling alone in our society. At then end we need each other.. thus we created society.Man is a social animal. Without society he is nothing but animal. Yet many consider themselves 'self made'. We are animals. We did create society. We live in it. It is a reality and not a myth.

Quite by accident, studies have shown that infants who only had their nutritional and sanitary needs met in orphanages often did not thrive. They were smaller and weaker than babies who received interaction and play with adults. They were called Marasmus babies. Other studies show that some time in sensory depravation can be beneficial, but if not carefully monitored it can cause insanity. The ultimate punishement of prisoners is to put them in isolation. Enough said.
