If you are in a developed country, you could push for 75% of your total portfolio in stocks if you are risk averse and below 30 years old. Normally, if you are in the mature age, you should balance your portfolio with 50% to 50% for steady earnings while still invested in high-yielding securities.

If you are in a developing country, you should go for 15% into equity because of the high risk premium of the country. Anyway, the government issued papers are normally giving you a high rate of, say, 10% per annum.
