Technically, mature rated games are not for kids. EB Games will not sell someone an "M" rated game unless they are of age. However, this is only because it could put their job in jeopardy. For the most part, mature games have fake, humorous violence. I personally have mostly mature rated games due to the fact that most of the best games are rated this way such as Halo and Unreal Championship. However, a few of these games are very violent and inappropriate for children. Some examples are: GTA games, and any other game that has excessive, realistic, killing. I would suggest checking out www.ign.com, or any other site of this nature such as www.gamespot.com or www.gamespy.com and check reviews of any mature games you are interested in buying for a child to see what the video game experts think of these games. Another medium you can get this information from is the clerks at your local video game store. I especially find workers at EB Games to be quite knowledgable about what they sell. Good luck and good gaming.

People are lazy. (Look at yourself for example. You wrote: "Effects of video games on young people? Violence, behavior." You were too lazy to even form your request a question, let alone a complete sentence.
If YOU as an ADULT are that lazy, imagine how much more so is a child. The fact is that videogames are educators. A 6 to 9 year old will get much more out of a video game if he or she can decipher the on-screen text. And what better to force a kid to learn to read than a videogame. Perhaps, after playing video games, tyour kids will supass your own caveman-like fragment sentences. (Such as, "Violence, behavior.")

Well here we go. Another asshole blaming something other than the parents on why their kid is a rotten little bastard.
A. Video Games have been scientifically proven to IMPROVE hand/eye coordination.
B.My 6 year old brother played with a leapster since he was 3, and taught himself how to read by the time he was 4.
C. I've played many many hours of the most violent games you can think of since the '80s (I'm 23) And have never once gone on a killing spree, stole a car, decapitated somebody with a sword, etc..etc...etc...
If a young person is going to cause violence, sure, maybe he will repeat something from a video game. But, regaurdless the fact of how he got the idea to perform the violence, He was going to do it anyway.
Stop putting the blame for violence on video games, and blame the parents for not kicking their kids asses when they urinate on little timmy next door, or set old man wither's dog ablaze.

Actually, I don't believe young people get violent because of video games, especially when they grow up in a healthy environment.
What really changes young peoples behavior is violence in the family!
I think it is better playing video games at home or in an Internet cafe' then spending the time in bars or discos and perhaps drinking alcohol.
But there should be a time limit! To much gaming is not good for your eyes, so carefully!

I am 28 years old and i have been a hardcore gamer since i was a young boy and i pleased to report that i have not robbed or killed anyone as a result of my gaming activity's. My children love to play video games and they are straight A students and they haven't acted out in any way that i know of. My son has an PS2 and an x-box and he plays gta and mgs, these are some very violent games but he is a vary kind young man who would never hurt a fly, i think it is because he know the difference between fantasy and the real world, some tend to blur the line sometimes. People are not violent because of video games, they are violent because they have a mental disorder.

It all depends on the person. For most of us video games are the outlet for our violence and bad behavior. Whenever I get mad, I'll throw in a fighting game and beat the crap out of the computer. Of course there are some idiots who get ideas from violent games, but most often they would have done something bad anyways. Video games do not change your personality.

In facty; the first actual on line interest became available to the protection stress formerly it became problem-free position to the standard public. over the years simulations were developed and what not. If the parents raise the kids right, then it doesn't matter what TV shows, movies, video games, or etc. etc. etc. they are exposed too. If they have a moral base there will be no effects.

Sorta, but the kid has to be kind of dumb or just not be able to control himself to let himself be the suspect in a crime. I mean you dont see half of the kiddos who play violent games, go shoot someone or what not. Yeah just saying i guess.
