I want to find out if the leather jacket that I spent hundreds of Euros on is in fact leather and not pleather. Any suggestions?

Smell it. Also leather is very soft to the touch. And pleather usually has a pattern of some sort that LOOKS like leather, but repeats itself. Look for repeating details. Also flaws, because real leather isn't perfect.

I would say by the tag and the smell of leather is totally different that the pleather.

in the united states, if it is not leather it must state it on the label...look at the label...

smell...real leather will have a unique smell...pleather has a vinyl smell.

take it to a shoe repair man and have him check it.....

also, real leather does have flaws, as it is skin. look for small flaws, pleather is perfect....

Smell, washing instructions, the texture of the inside. The reverse side of leather feels soft, something like suede.

I always smell it. It should say 100% leather on the label.
