i hope i am still married to the same man. i hope my children are happy. i hope that i will have lots of animals around me and trees too. i hope that i will not be living too far from the ocean. i hope i will still feel as young as i do today. i hope that i will finally have a real garden with tomatoes by then! i hope my autumn will last 100 years.

I compare myself with a peach tree. Start out with tiny green buds on little awkward branches, rather like a pre-teen, akimbo limbs, then into the full bloom of womanhood, a dazzle with bloom, and perfuming the air, and the fruitful time, green and burgeoning with new life.
But here in Autumn, I am rich and ripe, bursting with the glow of many suns, sweet and warm, ready for the harvest and my last glory days, before my leaves turn, fall and leave me dark and bare to face the winter of my life.

When trees loose their summer splendor
Change to raiment red and gold,
When the summer moon turns mellow,
And the nights are getting cold;
When the squirrels hide their acorns,
And the woodchucks disappear;
Then we know that it is autumn,
Loveliest season of the year.
The leaves are green, the nuts are brown,
They hang so high they won't come down.
