i have to take my Bridge piercing out at work but it trys to get closed after some minutes( its a common issue with all Bridge piercings).
I have just heard that if i use a PTFE bar then i can leave the bar inside since it would not be that much visible and spotable as a normal silver one is.
Is that true ?

And also would that set off the alarm at airports ? ( i mean the PTFE bar itself , without spikes or ... )

Thanks

PTFE still needs little beads to hold it in place,or it might slip out. It can be bent in place, but in my experience, over time, it tends to loose its shape and fall put if you don't put the beads on.
Clear tiny beads would not be as noticeable though.

Ptfe is not metalic, its a flexable nylon. It would not set off any alarms. Body piercings wont set off alarms, as theer is not enough metal.

PTFE is Teflon (rather, Teflon is DuPont's brand name for their PTFE). No chance of it setting off any metal detectors even in sufficient volume (which piercing jewelry isn't).

As for the retainer...just consider the geometry. Without some sort of ball or wide spot on the end, it's very likely to simply slide right on out.

Assuming it's 14 gauge, the equivalent size of nylon monofilament (0.065") which is actually a commonly available size of weed-eater line can be used as a retainer, too. Be absolutely sure it's clean and smooth (I'm assuming yours is a fairly well healed piercing...more than 6 months old?). With a little digging, you could track down some transparent silicone o-rings small enough to hold it in place.

Worst case, wear glasses. If anybody asks, tell them it's part of the frame :) Then, there's always this:

Set off alarms no not even your regular one will! I know this from personal experience. Yes if you use a retainer it will be less noticeable. Try a thicker gage fishing line and cut it the length you need. I have found this to be most use full. I am a tattoo artist and piercer of 8 years and when I taught high school I had to put in fishing line, until they didn't mind me wearing my jewelry while teaching class.
