Played by Gates McFadden, she took time off to make movies and expand her tv career.
She was in The Hunt for Red October as well as Taking care of Business (with Jim Belusi)
Also appeared on tv in All My Children, LA Law, the Cosby Show and Mad About You

I thought it was cause she got pregnant and instead of writing it into the show they took her out for a season

i think she left the show to be on a soap opera.. im not sure which one.. but obviously she didnt stay on it for long .. she was the better doctor on the show.. i didnt care much for her replacement

I don't know but I was sure glad she left and disappointed when she came back. I never liked her.
