He said he lost money in investments and he wants to borrow $10,000 from me. Without being impolite how should I convey to him that I can't lend him money?

Don't worry about being impolite. It is incredibly rude of him to even ask. Tell him you do not have that kind of extra money to loan out. Look at it as extra money cause you probably won't see it again.

You don't need $10,000 to get married, first of all. If someone cannot afford the "wedding of their dreams" then they need to scale back - a lot. All they need is a future spouse, a wedding license, someone who can legally perform a marriage and at least one witness (maybe 2, depending on the state).

This person needs to get real and grow up - hopefully before they get married.

Tell Him, You Didn't Help Him Lose The Money, Your Not Gonna Spend Yours, Because He Made Bad Investments. It's That Simple!!!
