The good news is that the benefits of regularly playing football will occur regardless of whether you smoke, drink or eat the wrong foods. The studies found that the effects of physical activity on heart attack risk were not affected by other cardiovascular risk factors.

Ultra marathons but one of my friends is a boxer and he says that boxing is the most demanding and he may be right. He always pointed out that if he trained, he could do a marathon but I could never last 8 rounds in the ring.

Big wave surfing, try being held under water for 90+ seconds while bouncing off sharp coral and rocks, then come for air and do it again when the next wave breaks on you.

traiathlon, especially the iron man distance - you swim for over 2 miles, bike 115 miles, and run a full marathon. All one right after the other.
cross country skiing is also incredibly demanding, you push your entire body for hours.

Any sport that pushes athletes to the pain point and beyond, then tells them to stay there... Perhaps triathletes, marathoners and rock climbers could tell ya a thing or two...
