I own worldpokersite.com. I developed it. My dad plays on it alot. It's a free website and no money involved. But I think he plays too much. He is near retired age.
One approach is to ask him how to play poker. How to bluff better. What are the strategies involved. He will show you and teach you. Once you have spent quality time with him, then ask him to spend quality time with you: reading a book, watching a movie. or even watch poker on TV. Buy him a poker book, buy him a poker DVD. Slowly stear him away from playing online. Have him spend quality time with you and make you the attention not poker.
Research on how people are cheating on the internet playing poker. Research on how people are losing money and their homes. Present that information to him after he finishes playing and at the right time.
I would also consider speaking to an authority on Gambling additions. Do search on gambling additions. There are 800 #s that you can call and ask for advice.

Why do you consider his playing too much poker? He is losing lots of money or is he just ignoring you.
If you are going to approach him about it, try and keep calm and when you do it and always let him know why his playing poker so much is affecting you. Keep it personal but don't attack him on the subject or he is likely to just close off and not listen to you.

Tell him that you miss the stuff you two used to do together and you want him to spend more time with you instead of playing poker.

Just come out and say it dont beat arround the bush!! Just get to the point! Be nice about it and say it at a time that would be appropriate (like not when he just had the worst day at work)!!!!
