I just logged on here a few minutes ago, and only looked at your quote from Abe.
You are taking a quote like that out of context to support something that is totally unrelated. The Civil War was a struggle between the Union and a separatist power using force to break away. Lincoln was giving a speech to show how strong our Union was, and that the only entity out there that could break it would come from within - "ourselves".
That has nothing to do with what you were implying. The struggle today with losing some freedoms based on loose interpretations of the Constitution is not what Lincoln was getting at with that comment. Yet, you are quick to associate the two.
Again, I haven't bothered looking at the other quotes you used, but I would say that your "left-wing" agenda and taking them out of context has got some people riled up.

Chadman,
Why would you put quotes up about different things unless you didn't embrace the opinion of the quotes yourself. And if you didn't expect a disagreement, I am sorry. Not everyone is going to agree with you and be your friend in life.
The responses you get are the person view to what they think you believe because of the quotes you pick. Pick quotes wisely if you don't want hate or disagreement.

When you kill the messenger you are delivering a message of your own: Tell me the truth at your own peril.
When you kill the messenger, you demonstrate what happens to those who deliver unpleasant truths. Obviously they don't want the truth.
You should have included the disclaimer at the end of the speech: "Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player".

well first of all this is a question forum. so posting your quotes is pretty pointless. if your quotes had a question or a point following them, i wouldn't really care. and i don't enjoy reading quotes from hitler, so that pissed me off.

My guess, because you are saying things that would make them think, if they were willing to think.
Because they are not willing to think, they froth at the mouth and yell and scream and shout the only thing in their tiny little brains -- mindless hate-filled rhetoric.
But I'm just guessing.

I think it has to do with your ulterior motive, the direction of your intent.....I like the quotes but disagree with your intent.

It might have something to do with your obvious agenda. I don't hate you, I just think you are an idiot.
