Depends on where you're driving. If you're racing/competition take out a headlight and duct it to the short intake making it a true ram. If you drive in mostly cold weather a CAI is useless and the chance of water killing your engine is always a factor, unless you buy a bypass valve. Hot underhood air lowers your density/mass decreasing your gas mileage. Most major brand aftermarket intakes are better than stock/oem. Keep your stock airbox for smog inspections. I personally like K&N.

cold air is always better, but do you want to risk doing as I did and sucking water up through your cold air intake and blowing your motor? A short ram takes air from inside the engine compartment which tends to be hotter so it isn't as efficient for your engine, but you will still see gains.

cold air is better unless water can get sucked into it,
they don't really give you much more power.
i have a short intake and it adds a little bit once the rpms are over 4000

I dunno - I always wanted to supercharged my 99 SS. Had to trade to the 99 Corvette & that's just fine stock.
